of what I can surmise, a "theory of everything" is something that
reconciles the standard particle model with general relativity, or
replaces both

Apparently, the line between waves and particles is sometimes a bit
blurry.

More or less, yes. GR and the Standard Model are both spectacularly
successful, but they don't play well together mathematically.

Neither. They are dimensions. Particles and waves propagate through
them.
