abiogenesis does not have full definition

there is sentient life and non sentient life

there is nothing to say that sentient life didn't come first somewhere
in the cosmos, then non sentient life being the creation of sentient life

I don't know if sentience has a full definition

plants and artificial intelligence have non sentient life

what additional or lesser feature does sentience have over non-sentience?

I don't think it is experience

I don't think it is awareness

I don't think it is mind

I don't think it is senses

probably philosophy, something abstract that has not or may never be
able to be isolated outside of itself

abiogenetic engineering of plants doesn't fit the bill

I think the study of the process of abstraction and the further
rationale to practicality may lead to a sufficient definition of sentience

That is not really true.
The true definition of sentience is to "feel in some way" (Don't
forget that the English language has been very corrupted by the
women).
So sentient life is any life that "feels".
And although you may not know it, plants and trees and fish and birds
do "feel" in some way.

There is Life and then there in none-life and none life would be
things such as the toaster or vacuum cleaner.

You should treat all LIfe with gentleness and care and make sure you
never harm or hurt anyone else or any other living thing, and that
does include making sure you do not hurt the feelings of other people.
Make sure you do not do the cruel practice of pet-keeping, and make
sure you do not cause suffering to other people or children.

But you must work within the Guidelines of what is actually Right.
For example violence to women is perfectly OK in order to make her
obey you and you can even rape her if you want. There is no price to
pay if any Men do that.
However any women who are in any way violent to small children are
always Wrong. And if people do what is Wrong then they will have a
Price to pay.

If you want to learn more about Right and wrong, and about Dharma
which acknolwedges the sentience of all Life, then read our Messages.

After all, that is what Extra Terrestrial Intelligence is for.
So that you can LEARN from us.

And if you do listen to us and LEARN from us, then you can end all the
suffering on Earth.

You can even abolish old age and death you know?
