Post by Otto J. MakelaPost by unknownFor decades I was skeptical of intelligent design (ID), however,
over the past few years I have gradually come to see the evidence
for design as more obvious than evolution.
Let me guess, this coincided with your conversion to Christianity?
Let me guess; you think that the only IDiots are the
minority of Christians who reject science, and that neither
Islamic IDiots nor secular IDiots exist?
I thought the 303 numerology was a bit of a hint at Christianity, but
you are of course correct that also Islamic and Jewish IDiots exist.
I'm not sure if the Hindu ones fit in at all.
Secular IDiots seem to be of the UFOlogy kind, but I confess I haven't
ever met anyone seriously like that. I remember Erich von Däniken
writing something like that, and that immediately made me discount him.
OK, sorry if I went off on you; your post sounded very
similar to those of bigots who use every opportunity to say
something derogatory about Christians and Christianity,
while carefully ignoring the bigotry among others, and the
atrocities they practice.
That said, while the Hindu creationists (i.e., religious
IDists) aren't identical to others, the fact that they
believe in creation by a deity or deities puts them in the
same category; any creation by a deity is ID by definition
(assuming, of course, that they consider the deity to be
intelligent and to have designed the universe, the Earth or
life).
As for the non-deity IDiots, we have at least one who is
very vocal about it who posts in talk.origins. He's a
college professor (of math, IIRC), and is a strong proponent
of directed panspermia, which is another version of ID
regarding life on Earth, if not the universe.
