Yep, that's simple all right. Simple and wrong; the
generator not only can't provide *more* energy than used to
drive the motor, it can't even provide as much, and the
arrangement of the pulleys is irrelevant.

And what has this to do with the demonstration of paranormal
abilities? You *do* know that's what sci.skeptic is about,
right?

Not as obvious as you might think; it's pathetic how many
people would see no problem with that "technique". The US
patent office still has to reject patent applications for
perpetual motion machines on a regular basis, and even has
special regulations in place to deal with such claims. A
